Ovaṭa, (o + vaṭa, pp. of vṛ, another form of ovuta = ophuta, q. v. ) obstructed, prevented Vin. II, 255 = IV. 52 = A. IV, 277 (v. l. ovāda); also an° ibid. (Page 171)

Pali is the language of the Tipiṭaka, which is the sacred canon of Theravāda Buddhism and contains much of the Buddha’s speech. Closeley related to Sanskrit, both languages are used interchangeably between religions.
