Oṇojeti, (with vowel assimilation o ‹ e for oṇejeti = ava + nejeti, Sk. °nejayati fr. nij. Kern, Toev. II. 138, complementary to remarks s. v. on p. 5 explns. as assimil. onuj° ‹ onij°, like anu° BSk. ani° (ānisaṃsa ‹ ānuśaṃsā), the further process being onoj° for onuj°. The etym. remains however doubtful) — 1. to cause to wash off, to wash, cleanse: see oṇojana.—2. (fig.) to give as a present, dedicate (with the rite of washing one’s hands, i.e. a clean gift) Vin.
