Niyatana (नियतन).—(?) , perhaps determination, fixation (an irregular formation, as if with suffix -ana, based on niyata, fixed; § 22.7; compare Pali accanta-niyata, -niyāmatā, (possessing) final assurance, Critical Pali Dictionary): ye te gambhīrapratītyasamutpāda- vyupaparīkṣaṇavihāriṇaś ca na cātyanta-niyatana- vihāriṇaḥ Gaṇḍavyūha 472.11—12; may refer to fatalistic beliefs, in contrast with belief in the pratītya-samutpāda.
