Nivṛttisthāna (निवृत्तिस्थान).—Places where the substitutes गुण (guṇa) and वृद्धि (vṛddhi) do not apply ; weak terminations; kit or nit affixes in Panini's grammar; cf. अथाप्यस्तेर्निवृत्तिस्थानेष्वादिलेपो भवति । स्तः सन्तीति । (athāpyasternivṛttisthāneṣvādilepo bhavati | staḥ santīti |) Nir. II. 1. The word संक्रम (saṃkrama) is also used in this sense by ancient grammarians.
