nivaṇēṃ (निवणें).—n A ring of grass, to be placed under a pitcher &c.

nivaṇēṃ (निवणें).—v i To cool--anything heated. Pr. śijē tōṃ rāhavatēṃ nivē tōṃ rāhavata nāhīṃ. 2 fig. To abate or decrease; to be assuaged or mitigated--a pestilence &c., an uproar or a hubbub, anger, lust, cupidity: also to become cool and calm--an inflamed or excited, or a fervid or glowing person. Ex. āpaṇaci nāhīṃ nivālā paiṃ aṅgēṃ || vyartha karūṃ lāgē gurū gurū ||. 3 To be spent--a cannon-ball.
