Source: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationNirvikārin (निर्विकारिन्) or Nirvikārī refers to “he who is not subject to deterioration or decay”, and represents an epithet of Śiva, according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.2.10. Accordingly as Viṣṇu said to Brahmā:—“[...] He cannot be defined. He is not subject to deterioration or decay (nirvikārin). He is the supreme soul, without a second, unswerving and endless. He is the cause of dissolution, all-pervasive and great lord”.
The Purana (पुराण, purāṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences. The eighteen mahapuranas total over 400,000 shlokas (metrical couplets) and date to at least several centuries BCE.
