Nimīl (निमील्).—1 P.

1) To shut the eyes; यदा स्वपिति शान्तात्मा तदा सर्वं निमीलति (yadā svapiti śāntātmā tadā sarvaṃ nimīlati) Manusmṛti 1.52; R.12.65.

2) To close the eyes in death, die; निमिमील नरोत्तमप्रिया हृतचन्द्रा तमसेव कौमुदी (nimimīla narottamapriyā hṛtacandrā tamaseva kaumudī) R.8.37.

3) To obscure (fig.); प्रजालोपनिमीलितः (prajālopanimīlitaḥ) R.1.68.

4) To be closed or shut, (as eyes, flowers &c.); निमीलितानामिव पङ्कजानाम् (nimīlitānāmiva paṅkajānām).

5) To disappear, vanish, set (fig. also); नरेशे जीवलोकोऽयं निमीलति निमीलति (nareśe jīvaloko'yaṃ nimīlati nimīlati) H.3.138; द्यौर्निमीलितनक्षत्रा (dyaurnimīlitanakṣatrā) Hariv. -Caus.
