Source: Shodhganga: Elements of Art and Architecture in the Trtiyakhanda of the Visnudharmottarapurana (natya)Nimai refers to certain kinds of decorations used in the Ankiya Bhaona kind of dramatic plays.—In Aṅkīyā Bhāonā also the royal characters are seen to wear the dress of vibrant colours. The royal characters like Rāma, Bhīṣma, Indra, Pāṇḍavas, Duryodhana etc. are seen to wear the cāpkon colā and put on a decorated piece called nimāi. They put on the nimāi in their necks on both in front and back side. The cāpkon colā of those royal characters are very colourful and the nimāi is decorated with colourful lashes.
Natyashastra (नाट्यशास्त्र, nāṭyaśāstra) refers to both the ancient Indian tradition (shastra) of performing arts, (natya—theatrics, drama, dance, music), as well as the name of a Sanskrit work dealing with these subjects. It also teaches the rules for composing Dramatic plays (nataka), construction and performance of Theater, and Poetic works (kavya).
