1. To happen, occur; சம்பவித்தல். தொண்டனார்க் கங்கு நிகழ்ந்தன [sambavithal. thondanark kangu nigazhnthana] (பெரியபுராணம் திருநா. [periyapuranam thiruna.] 380).

2. To be current, passing, as time; நடந்துவருதல். நிகழுங் காலத்துச் செய்யுமென்னுங் கிளவியொடு [nadanthuvaruthal. nigazhung kalathus seyyumennung kilaviyodu] (தொல். சொல். [thol. sol.] 229).
