Nava Nātha Charitra was written by a Telugu poet Gaurana in dvipatha style. He wrote this work at the command of the chief pontiff of the Siddha Bikśa Vritti Matha of Śrisailam.
The Nava Nātha Charitra in Telugu and Marathi versions speaks about Raja Narendra, a king of the Malwa Dēśa. The Telugu people identified him with the Eastern Chalukyan king Rajaraja Narendra. Apart from these, the Marathi version mentions about various sacred places, of which the Kadali Dēśa is, identified with the sacred place of the same name in the Nallamalai hills like Śrisailam and the contiguous regions of Karnātaka and Maharastra.
