Nāṟporuḷ (நாற்பொருள்) [nāṟ-poruḷ] noun < நால் [nal] +. The four objectives of life, viz., aṟam, poruḷ, iṉpam, vīṭu; அறம், பொருள், இன்பம், வீடு என்ற நான்கு உறுதிப்பொருள்கள். நாற்பொருட் பயத்தோ டெழு மதந் தழுவி [aram, porul, inpam, vidu enra nanku uruthipporulkal. narporud payatho dezhu mathan thazhuvi] (நன். [nan.] 4).
