Source: Wikisource: A dictionary of Sanskrit grammarNandyādi (नन्द्यादि).—Name giver to the class of roots beginning with the root नन्द् (nand), which includes the roots वाश्, मद्, दूष् (vāś, mad, dūṣ), वृध्, शुभ् (vṛdh, śubh) and others as given in the Ganapatha.These roots have the affix ल्यु (lyu) i.e. अन (ana) added to them in the sense of agent. e.g. नन्दनः, वाशनः, मदनः, वर्धनः, शोभनः, रमणः, दर्पणः, जनार्दनः, यवनः (nandanaḥ, vāśanaḥ, madanaḥ, vardhanaḥ, śobhanaḥ, ramaṇaḥ, darpaṇaḥ, janārdanaḥ, yavanaḥ) etc.; cf. P.III.1.134.
Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas. Vyakarana concerns itself with the rules of Sanskrit grammar and linguistic analysis in order to establish the correct context of words and sentences.
