Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionarynāṃvarasa (नांवरस) [or नांवरास, nāṃvarāsa].—f (nāṃva & rāśi) In astrology. Investigation of the nākṣatranāma (name designated by the horoscope) from the vyāvahārikanāma (earthly or vulgar name); or determining the rāśi, gaṇa, nakṣatra &c. from the name: also the rāśi, gaṇa, nakṣatra &c. (the whole horoscope) so determined. v kāḍha. The amity of horoscope (ghaṭita), as of a pair to be married, is expressed by such phrases as nāṃ0 or nāṃvarāśīsa yēṇēṃ-utaraṇēṃ-jamaṇēṃ-miḷaṇēṃ, and the investigation and settlement of it, by nāṃ0 kāḍhaṇēṃ-pāhaṇēṃ- ṭharaviṇēṃ-&c. 2 unc The nākṣatranāma or horoscopename given to a child at birth.
