namāja (नमाज).—f ( P) Worship or divine service. v paḍha, kara. (Among Muhammadans.) Pr. na0 karā- yālā gēlōṃ masīda gaḷyānta aḍakalī I went to do well but evil befell me. 2 fig. A sore burden; a grievous weight or clog; a bore or pest (a vile, troublesome, or expensive office, task, animal, dependent); a matter or a thing gen. of which we groan under the encumbrance and long to be rid. Ex. tī māmalata āṇi pāñca ghōḍē hyā dōna namājī gaḷyānta paḍatāñca divāḷēṃ vājalēṃ. v paḍa, ghāla.
