nakala (नकल).—f ē ( A) A copy; a transcript from the original; a thing in general made in imitation of another; also imitation, mimicry, taking off. 2 A tale, story, anecdote, apologue: also a ludicrous incident; an amusing or a strange occurrence. Ex. āja dēvālayānta mōṭhī na0 jhālī. 3 fig. Extinction of a race; existence only in story; being as a tale that is told, or as Ilium &c. Ex. tyā rājācī na0 jhālī. 4 Used loosely in the sense of Original or thing to be copied (as the word Copy amongst printers). Ex. dagaḍāvara jī nakala chāpāvī tyāsārakhyā sāṛyā nakalā nighatāta.
