Mūtranāḍi (मूत्रनाडि) refers to the “urethra”, and is dealt with in the 20th century Prayogasamuccaya (one of the most popular and widely practised book in toxicology in Malayalam).—The author has given a detailed description of types of [snake-] bite mark and the corresponding causes and prognosis. [...] Symptoms of impending death are also mentioned in the first chapter. Significant indicators are: (i) No swelling even when the thighs are beaten with a stick, (ii) eyes are open and dilated, (iii) mouth is open and dilation in rectum is observed, (iv) if semen oozes out automatically on massaging mūtranāḍi (urethra).
