muraṇēṃ (मुरणें).—v i To soak or sink into; to undergo absorption. 2 To be saturated or duly impregnated;--as preserved or pickled fruits with the syrup or pickle: to be duly affected with the coagulating matter--milk. 3 To mellow--fruits: to ripen and dry--seeds. Ex. bīja dōna rōja ṭhēvilēṃ mhaṇajē murēla maga pērāyāsa cāṅgalēṃ. 4 To become mellow figuratively; to lose the softness, ruggedness, rawness of extreme newness, and settle down into the serviceable or practical state or form--cloth, paper, timber. 5 To become sober, serious, sedate, staid; to sow one's wild oats. 6 To become conversant with through practice or experience. Ex. hā manuṣya hyā kāmānta muralā hyāsaca hēṃ kāma sāṅgāvēṃ. 7 To be resolved--a fever, a tumor &c. without eruption in sweat, or without suppuration. 8 To subside, settle, go down--anger, lust, craving. 9 To be absorbed or wrapt (in any contemplation). 10 To be swallowed up and lost; to be consumed largely and unproductively--men, money, materials, in a business or work. murī māraṇēṃ To abscond or hide one's self for a season. murūna basaṇēṃ To sit compressedly and closely; to cower or crouch with limbs and head gathered in.
