murakuṇḍī (मुरकुंडी).—f murakuṇḍa f (muraḍaṇēṃ) A light or ludicrous term for the body, somewhat corresponding to Carcass or Hulk. Used of the body of a person falling or lying, and with an implication of lumpishness, loggishness, inert heaviness (as of a man tumbling from a horse or tree, or falling into a swoon or fit of alarm or fright, or lying helplessly in fever). v ghāla, māra, paḍa, vaḷa. Ex. vāgha pāhatāñca tyācī mu0 vaḷalī; hyācī annāvāñcūna āṇi tyācī dukhaṇyānēṃ mu0 vaḷalī. 2 Used also of the bodies of persons rushing and crowding upon eagerly and emulously. v paḍa, māra. Ex. anantaphandīcyā kathēvara hajārōṃ māṇasāñcyā murakuṇḍyā paḍatāta. Used also as musaṇḍī q. v. 3 A posture,-- sitting with the head upon the knees and the arms folded around them or (as by some ascetics) with the head depressed and the legs brought up over the neck. v māra, ghē, vaḷa. Ex. ghētalī murakuṇḍa || thōra jhālōṃ mīhī laṇḍa ||.
