Mōriyar (Mōriya or Maurya 326-188 BCE) is a name related to the historical geography and rulers of ancient Tamil Nadu, occuring in Sangam literature such as the Akanāṉūṟu and the Puṟanāṉūṟu.—Notes: (Thapar 1980: 12), also Ōriyar (Puṟam. 175, VIS 1962: 196), 69 marauders up to neṭuvarai “long mountains” (Vēṅkaṭam), 251 vampa-Mōriyar, 281 moved southward, the Vaṭukar (Āndhrabhṛtyas?) guiding.
