Source: What is India: Annual Report on Indian Epigraphy (1945-1952)Mokṣaguṇḍam is an archaeologically important site situated in Cumbum-taluk (Kurnool district, Madras), known for inscriptions regarding the ancient history of India. For example, at Mokṣaguṇḍam there is a door-jamb, proper right, of the Muktīśvara temple which records the completion of the temple of god Muktīśvara on the date specified. Registers a gift of one kuñcha of land to god Sāṃbaśiva by Tāḍicherla Veṅkaṭanarasu for the Śivarātri festival of the god. This Telugu inscription is dated Śaka 1691.
