Source: Sutta: The Pali Text Society's Pali-English DictionaryModara: In modara at J. V, 54 (of elephant’s teeth) Kern, Toev. s. v. sees a miswriting for medura (full of, beset with), which however does not occur in Pali. The C. explanation is “samantato obhāsento, ” i.e. shining. (Page 542)
Pali is the language of the Tipiṭaka, which is the sacred canon of Theravāda Buddhism and contains much of the Buddha’s speech. Closeley related to Sanskrit, both languages are used interchangeably between religions.
