Source: What is India: Inscriptions of the ŚilāhārasMiriñjadeśa is the name of a village mentioned in the “Miraj plates of Mārasiṃha”. Miriñjadeśa evidently comprised the territory round modern Miraj.
These plates (mentioning Miriñjadeśa) were discovered at Miraj and deposited with the Bombay Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society. It records the grant by Mārasiṃha of the village Kuṇṭavāḍa, situated on the southern bank of the Kṛṣṇaverṇā. It was made on the occasion of the Uttarāyaṇa Saṅkrānti which occurred on Thursday, the seventh tithi of the bright fortnight of Pauṣa in the Saka year 980.
