It is an ancient trail (古道 [gu dao]) from the pre-Qing Dynasty (前清時代 [qian qing shi dai]) era located within Touwu Township (頭屋鄉 [tou wu xiang]), Miaoli County (苗栗縣 [miao li xian]). This mountain path (山徑 [shan jing]), which has existed since the Qing Dynasty (清朝 [qing chao]), was an important road (道路 [dao lu]) for early settlers (先民 [xian min]) traveling between the present-day Touwu Township (頭屋鄉 [tou wu xiang]) and Shitan Township (獅潭鄉 [shi tan xiang]). It can be reached from the Miaoli (苗栗 [miao li]) or Shitan (獅潭 [shi tan]) direction by following County Road No. 22 (苗二十二號鄉道 [miao er shi er hao xiang dao]) to the Mingfeng Mountain Ancient Trail. The western entrance of the ancient trail (古道 [gu dao]) is located at the summit of County Road No. 22 (苗二十二號鄉道 [miao er shi er hao xiang dao]), to the left of Yun Dong Temple (雲洞宮 [yun dong gong]) on Mingfeng Mountain (鳴鳳山 [ming feng shan]).
