Reputation (名聲 [ming sheng]) passed down to later generations (後代 [hou dai]). From "Biography of Xifu Gong" (息夫躬傳 [xi fu gong chuan]), Volume 45 of "Book of Han" (漢書 [han shu]): "In the past, Duke Mu of Qin (秦繆公 [qin mou gong]) did not follow the advice (言 [yan]) of Bai Lixi (百里奚 [bai li xi]) and Jian Shu (蹇叔 [jian shu]), which led to the defeat of his army (師 [shi]). He repented and blamed himself, detested his misleading (詿誤 [gua wu]) ministers (臣 [chen]), longed for the advice (言 [yan]) of the elders (黃髮 [huang fa]), and his fame (名 [ming]) was passed down to later generations (後世 [hou shi])." From "Biography of Zang Hong" (臧洪傳 [zang hong chuan]), Volume 7 of "Book of Wei" (魏書 [wei shu]) in "Records of the Three Kingdoms" (三國志 [san guo zhi]): "In the past, Yan Ying (晏嬰 [yan ying]) did not yield his will (志 [zhi]) when faced with the white blade (白刃 [bai ren]), and the Southern Scribe (南史 [nan shi]) did not distort his writing (筆 [bi]) to save his life. Therefore, their persons (身 [shen]) were immortalized in images (圖象 [tu xiang]), and their fame (名 [ming]) was passed down to later generations (後世 [hou shi])."
