蒙古兒 [méng gǔ ér] [meng gu er]—
銀子 [yin zi] (yínzi). Translated from 滿文 [man wen] (Manchu). From 《直語補證 [zhi yu bu zheng].》 (Rectified Proofs of Colloquialisms. Mongol): "The common people (市井 [shi jing]) considered it a euphemism for silver (銀之隱語 [yin zhi yin yu]). The two characters 蒙古 [meng gu] (Měnggǔ) originally meant silver (銀解 [yin jie]). This was only realized when the national language (國語 [guo yu]) became known, probably because at that time it was a counterpart to 金國 [jin guo] (Jin Dynasty)."

蒙古兒:銀子。譯自滿文。《直語補證.蒙古兒》:「市井以為銀之隱語,蒙古二字原作銀解。國語始知之,蓋彼時與金國號為對耳。」

méng gǔ ér: yín zi. yì zì mǎn wén. < zhí yǔ bǔ zhèng. méng gǔ ér>: “shì jǐng yǐ wèi yín zhī yǐn yǔ, méng gǔ èr zì yuán zuò yín jiě. guó yǔ shǐ zhī zhī, gài bǐ shí yǔ jīn guó hào wèi duì ěr.”

meng gu er: yin zi. yi zi man wen. < zhi yu bu zheng. meng gu er>: "shi jing yi wei yin zhi yin yu, meng gu er zi yuan zuo yin jie. guo yu shi zhi zhi, gai bi shi yu jin guo hao wei dui er."
