Source: Jainworld: Jain History (h)Medanīpura is one of the historical names for Mertā, situated a distance of one hundred seventeen kms. north-east of Jodhpur. After converting the Yakṣa, Kaḍameḍa and a large number of Brāhmaṇas to Jainism, Abhayadevasūri, who lived in the eleventh century A.D., caused the temple of Mahāvīra to be built in this city.
