冒瀆 [mào dú] [mao du]—
To offend, to profane/blaspheme.
From "水滸傳 [shui hu chuan]" (Shuǐhǔ Zhuàn), Chapter 23: "Your humble servant (小人 [xiao ren]) has eyes but failed to recognize Mount Tai (泰山 [tai shan]) [meaning, I failed to recognize your eminence], and for a moment, I was disrespectful towards you, elder brother (兄長 [xiong zhang]). I beg your forgiveness (望乞恕罪 [wang qi shu zui])."
Also written as "冒突 [mao tu]" (mào tū).
冒瀆:冒犯、褻瀆。《水滸傳》第二三回:「小人有眼不識泰山,一時冒瀆兄長,望乞恕罪。」也作「冒突」。
mào dú: mào fàn,, xiè dú. < shuǐ hǔ chuán> dì èr sān huí: “xiǎo rén yǒu yǎn bù shí tài shān, yī shí mào dú xiōng zhǎng, wàng qǐ shù zuì.” yě zuò “mào tū” .
