Source: archive.org: Catalogue of Pancaratra Agama TextsMaṇḍalavidhāna (मण्डलविधान) (lit. “concerning maṇḍala-motifs”) is the name of chapter 19 of the Mārkaṇḍeyasaṃhitā: a Pāñcarātra text comprising some 2200 Sanskrit verses mainly dealing with temple-building, iconography, pūjā (worship procedures), utsava (festivities) and prāyaścitta (expiatory measures).—Description of chapter [maṇḍalavidhāna]: A 16-pillared maṇḍapa-pavilion is to be built, containing a dais—for which dimensions are given (1-2). The dais is smeared with cow-dung, and strings are used to mark out a lotus-design of certain specific measurements. Some details are given for marking the bhadraka-portions and the kūrmākāra- portions (3-15a). “Entrances” are made, angles projected, the matsyākāra is properly arranged, and coloring is done (15b-26). After Viṣṇu and His various powers have been invoked to occupy the lotus-design, the mandala is worshipped [arcayet] (27).
