He was a Pallava King and ruled his country during the period 600 to 630 A.D. He is the author of the drama Mattavilāsa. Many verses from Mattavilāsa have been quoted later in many other books. Kāñcī was the capital of Vikramavarmā.
The Purana (पुराण, purāṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences. The eighteen mahapuranas total over 400,000 shlokas (metrical couplets) and date to at least several centuries BCE.
