Source: Wisdom Library: Āyurveda and botanyMahatpañcamūla (महत्पञ्चमूल):—Another name for Bṛhatpañcamūla, which is a group of medicinal herbs, classified by Suśruta in his Suśrutasaṃhitā sūtrasthāna XXXVIII. The word is used throughout Ayurvedic literature. The name is derived from the words mahat (‘thick’ or ‘strong’) and pañcamūla, translating to “five roots”.
