Mahārāṇī (near Udaypur) is an archaeologically important site situated in Tripura, known for inscriptions regarding the ancient history of India. For example, at Mahārāṇī there is a Sanskrit inscription in the compound of a peasant’s house which records the construction of a temple of Viṣṇu by the king and his queen Lakṣmīdevī.

This inscription belongs to king Vijayamāṇikya of the Kings of Tripurā dynasty and is dated Śaka 1470 (1548 A. D., October 17).
