lōṭaṇēṃ (लोटणें).—v c (luṭhana S through H) To roll, bowl, trundle, troll. 2 To push or drive (along, in, at) vehemently or recklessly. Applied freely, as the words ḍhakalaṇēṃ, dapaṭaṇēṃ, ragaḍaṇēṃ, lāṭaṇēṃ &c., under which see abundant detail. 3 To urge on and cast impetuously upon (as an elephant, a horse, a body of troops, upon the enemy). A technical but fondly cherished use. 4 To push forcibly to; to drive hard (in shutting or closing).

lōṭaṇēṃ (लोटणें).—v i ( H) To roll over and over; to turn and toss about; to wallow. 2 To roll or sweep along; to press onwards, at, or in heavily and tumultuously. Ex. dēvaḷāmadhyēṃ āja kathēsa lākhōṃ manuṣya lōṭalēṃ hōtēṃ. 3 To roll or flow on;--used of days, years, time. 4 To tumble or fall upon bodily and overwhelmingly;--as a tower or building; and, as the neuter form of the third sense under the active verb, to throw one's self upon with gathered mass and momentum. Ex. ākā- śāhuni vijū paḍata || tēvīṃ dakṣāvari akasmāt || vīrabhadra lōṭalā ||. 5 To roll down in streams--tears: to come swelling and rolling along--a river, a fresh, a torrent. Ex. jēṃ pāṇī lōṭalēṃ tēṃ lāgalēñca dōnhī thaḍī bharalyā. 6 To drive towards or on in weighty mass;--used esp. of dense and swagging clouds or dashing rain. Ex. tikaḍē jō pāūsa lōṭalā tō gāṃvaca vāhavilā. 7 To be overflowingly profuse or plentiful--corn, fruits, pocks or other eruptions, profits &c. &c.
