Source: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationLokaviḍambana (लोकविडम्बन) refers to “imitating the worldly conventions”, according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.3.29 (“Śivā-Śiva dialogue”).—Accordingly, after Pārvatī spoke to Śiva: “After saying these words to the great lord, Pārvatī stopped and bowed to Him frequently with shoulders stooping and palms joined in reverence. Thus addressed by her, Śiva of the noble soul, just to follow and imitate the worldly conventions (lokaviḍambana) thought that it should be so. Being desirous of doing so he rejoiced. [...]”.
