Lokāśrayatva (लोकाश्रयत्व).—Dependence upon the people for the use.The phrase लोकाश्रयत्वा-ल्लिङ्गस्य (lokāśrayatvā-lliṅgasya), referring to the fixation of gender depending entirely on the people's usage, is very common in the Mahābhāșya; cf. M.Bh. on P. II.1.36, II.2.29, etc.
