理佛 [li fu]—The fundamental or intrinsic Buddha, i.e. the dharmakāya; also the Tiantai doctrine of Buddha as immanent in all beings, even those of the three lowest orders; which doctrine is also called 素法身 [su fa shen] the plain, or undeveloped dharmakāya.
[The following represents an unverified English translation. For all purposes consult the original Chinese text.]
理佛 [li fu]—Intrinsic Buddha — [Term] Another name for the Dharma-body (法身 [fa shen]). Among the Three Bodies of the Buddha (佛三身 [fu san shen]), the Reward Body and Transformation Body Buddhas (報化二佛 [bao hua er fu]) are considered Phenomenal Buddhas, while the Dharma-body Buddha (法身佛 [fa shen fu]) is the Intrinsic Buddha. This is the common understanding. It is also the Principle Identity Buddha (理即佛 [li ji fu]) among the Six Identities of the Buddha (六即佛 [liu ji fu]) established by the Tiantai (台家 [tai jia]) school. Even sentient beings in the Three Evil Paths (三惡 [san e]) also possess the principle of Dharma-nature (法性 [fa xing]), being no different from a Buddha; this is what is meant by Intrinsic Buddha. It is also called the Fundamental Dharma-body (素法身 [su fa shen]), as it only possesses the intrinsic essence of the Dharma-body (法身之理體 [fa shen zhi li ti]) but lacks the adornments of merit and virtue. The Tiantai Commentary on the Contemplation Sūtra (天台觀經疏 [tian tai guan jing shu]) states: "To say that sentient beings are Buddhas is to speak of the Intrinsic Buddha."
