老拙 [lǎo zhuō] [lao zhuo]—
1. Term of address. A humble term used by elderly people to refer to themselves. Song Dynasty (宋 [song]). Su Shi's (苏轼 [su shi]) poem "To Zhang Zhifu on His Gift of Cui Hui's Portrait" (章质夫寄惠崔徽真 [zhang zhi fu ji hui cui hui zhen]): "Knowing you were troubled and even more distraught, I rolled it up and gave it to this old man, startled by his own clumsiness." From Stories from Qingping Mountain Hall: The Story of the Lantern Sedan Chair Lotus Girl Becoming a Buddha (清平山堂话本 [qing ping shan tang hua ben].花灯轿莲女成佛记 [hua deng jiao lian nu cheng fu ji]): "'Grandma, how old are you?' The grandma replied, 'This old fool is seventy-five years old.'"
2. Refers to a person who is unrefined, uncultured, or rough in temperament. Also known as "老粗 [lao cu]" (lǎocū).
老拙:1.稱謂。老年人自謙之詞。宋.蘇軾〈章質夫寄惠崔徽真〉詩:「知君被惱更愁絕,卷贈老夫驚老拙。」《清平山堂話本.花燈轎蓮女成佛記》:「『婆婆,你多少年紀?』婆婆道:『老拙七十五歲了。』」
2.稱鄙野不文或性情鹵莽的人。也稱為「老粗」。
