Laṃgara (लंगर) [Also spelled langar]:—(nm) an anchor; a public kitchen, an alms-house; a heavy wooden piece/block tied to a cattle’s neck (to check it from running far); pendulum; tentative stitches made at long distances in a cloth; a privy cover worn by wrestlers; a piece of stone tied at the end of a long thread; (a) mischievous, naughty; vile; ~[khānā] a public kitchen, an alms-house; —[uṭhānā] to set sail, to take off anchor, —[karanā/ḍālanā] to come to an anchor, to cast anchor; —[kholanā] to start a public kitchen.
