來頓 [lái dùn] [lai dun]—
Leiden. Located 35 kilometers southwest of Amsterdam (阿姆斯特丹 [a mu si te dan]), the capital of the Netherlands (荷蘭 [he lan]), on the Rhine River (萊因河 [lai yin he]). Its altitude (海拔 [hai ba]) is 116 centimeters below sea level (海平面 [hai ping mian]). In 1575 AD (西元 [xi yuan]), William I, Prince of Orange (奧倫治公爵威廉一世 [ao lun zhi gong jue wei lian yi shi]), founded Leiden University (大學 [da xue]) here. It is famous worldwide for its museums (博物館 [bo wu guan]). In the 17th century (十七世紀 [shi qi shi ji]), it was the center of the Dutch Renaissance (荷蘭文藝復興 [he lan wen yi fu xing]). Currently, its metallurgy (冶金 [ye jin]), printing (印刷 [yin shua]), building materials (建築材料 [jian zhu cai liao]), and food processing (食品加工 [shi pin jia gong]) industries are quite developed.
