Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionarylāgō bhāgō divāḷī (लागो भागो दिवाळी).—(lāgaṇēṃ To hit, affect, be a blow or loss; bhāgaṇēṃ To have or be a dividend; and divāḷī. At whatever cost, or with whatever profit, the festival of divāḷī must be observed.) Come loss, come gain, I must do business. A phrase similar to udīma karatāṃ sōḷā bārā and numerous others in use amongst speculators and traders. Ex. tū tara karāyālā lāga lāgō bhāgō divāḷī pāhataca āhēṃ. Others understand the phrase differently:--lāgaṇēṃ To hit, touch, strike the mark, be effectual; bhāgaṇēṃ. To fail, miss, break down, fall short or be smashed; and divāḷī Festivities; i.e. come success, come failure, it is well; come prosperity or come ruin, I shall keep my holiday. A phrase therefore expressing hard indifference and doggedness of purpose.
