Source: Wisdom Library: Nāṭya-śāstraLaghusaṃyoga (लघुसंयोग) or Laghu or Laghusañcaya refers to one of the three yogas or saṃyogas: rules used in the playing of drums (puṣkara) [with reference to Mṛdaṅga, Paṇava and Dardura] according to the Nāṭyaśāstra chapter 33. Accordingly, “the laghu-sañcaya is light syllables and quick tempo e.g. ghāṭa maṭa maṭa ghaṭa matthi ghaṭu ghaṭu ghaṭu”.
Natyashastra (नाट्यशास्त्र, nāṭyaśāstra) refers to both the ancient Indian tradition (shastra) of performing arts, (natya—theatrics, drama, dance, music), as well as the name of a Sanskrit work dealing with these subjects. It also teaches the rules for composing Dramatic plays (nataka), construction and performance of Theater, and Poetic works (kavya).
