Laghupretamañjarī (लघुप्रेतमञ्जरी) is the name of a ritual manual that deals with funeral rites and ceremonies.—According to Jaidev Jani, Sanskrit lecturer at the university Baroda, the Pretamañjarī ritual manual is spread across northern India from Benares to Maharashtra. An indication of an even wider distribution comes from the number of manuscripts filmed by the Nepal German Manuscript Preservation Project. This catalog lists 44 manuscripts under the titles Pretamañjarī, Laghupretamañjarī, Pretamañjarīnārāyaṇabalividhi, Pretamantrakriyā and Garuḍapretamañjaryākhyāna. However, since the authors are not specified, the texts may be different.
