Kuttige (ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆ):—

1) [noun] the part of the body connecting the head to the shoulders; the neck.

2) [noun] the part of a shirt, dress, etc. round or close to the neck.

3) [noun] something resembling a neck, such as the narrow part of a vessel, bottle, etc.

4) [noun] ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಕೊಯ್ [kuttige koy] kuttige koy to ruin another by betraying; ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಗುಂಡುಕಲ್ಲು [kuttige gumdukallu] kuttige guṇḍukallu an obstacle, hindrance or difficulty standing in the way of progress; a stumbling block; ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಗೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊ [kuttigege kattiko] kuttigege kaṭṭiko to take the responsibility of (esp. of something unwanted); 2. to marry (against one’s wish); ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಗೆ ಕಟ್ಟು [kuttigege kattu] kuttigege kaṭṭu to pass on the responsibility to someone (usu. against his willingness to take up); 2. to cause to marry (usu. against one’s wish); ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಗೆ ತರು [kuttigege taru] kuttigege taru to cause to face a danger or calamity; ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಗೆ ಬರು [kuttigege baru] kuttigege baru (a responsibility, liability, etc. ) to be imposed on; 2. (a risk, dangerous situation) to happen as to put one’s life, job etc. in peril; to become critical; ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಗೆ ಬೀಳು [kuttigege bilu] kuttigege bīḷu = ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಗೆ ಬರು [kuttigege baru]; ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆ ತನಕ ಬರು [kuttige tanaka baru] kuttige tanaka baru = ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಗೆ ಬರು [kuttigege baru]; ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಿಚುಕು [kuttige hicuku] kuttige hicuku = ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಿಸುಕು [kuttige hisuku]; ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಿಸುಕು [kuttige hisuku] kuttige hisuku to kill by squeezing the throat as with the hands, a noose, etc., so as to shut off the breath; to strangle (another to death); 2. to create a very difficult situation to avoid another’s progress, development, etc.; ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕುಳಿತಿರು [kuttigeya mele kulitiru] kuttigeya mēle kuḷitiru to pressurise or persuade unduly; ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಕೊಯ್ಯುವ ಊರಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಲಿದು ಬಿಟ್ಟದ್ದೇ ಗುಣ [kuttige koyyuva uralli sulidu bittadde guna] kuttige koyyuva ūralli sulidu biṭṭddē guṇa (prov.) in a state where cannibalism is the rule, robbery is a gracious act; ಚಿನ್ನದ ಚೂರಿ ಎಂದು ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಕೊಯಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದೆ [cinnada curi emdu kuttige koyisikollabahude]? cinnada cūri endu kuttige koyisikoḷḷabahude?
