Source: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationKṣetraśuddhi (क्षेत्रशुद्धि) refers to the “purity of the place of worship”, according to the Śivapurāṇa 1.20 while explaining the mode of worshipping an earthen phallic image (pārthiva-liṅga) according to the Vedic rites:—“[...] the purity of the place of worship (kṣetraśuddhi) shall be heightened with the mantra “Śambhavāya” etc. The sprinkling of water over Pañcāmṛta shall be performed with the word Namaḥ prefixed”.
