Kṣetrapālajīrṇoddhāra (क्षेत्रपालजीर्णोद्धार) is the name of a manuscript dealing with Jīrṇoddhāra (“temple renovation”).—Most of the ritual texts of Kerala [such as the Kṣetrapālajīrṇoddhāra] concern temples. Very often they also contain a chapter, usually called jīrṇoddhāra (“renovation”) devoted to the renovation of temples, which also discusses the re-installation of a new liṅga or idol in the place of a damaged one. There are also some short manuals which deal solely with the jīrṇoddhāra. Manuscripts of these short texts are available in public as well as private manuscript libraries; For example: Kṣetrapālajīrṇoddhāra (Oriental Research Institute, Trivandrum, Ms. No. 4468; Kuttalakattu Mana, Kerala, Ms No. 55).
