Source: Shodhganga: A study of Nyāya-vaiśeṣika categories (vaisesika)Kriyāvattva (क्रियावत्त्व) refers to one of Kaṇāda’s definitions of Dravya (substance) in his Vaiśeṣikasūtra, 1.1.15.—The first definition, Kriyāvattva (i.e. kriyāvattvaṃ dravyatvaṃ) is non-pervasive (avyāpta) to the substances like ākaśa, kāla, dik, ātmā which are devoid of action being vibhudravyas. Hence, this definition is defective.
Vaisheshika (वैशेषिक, vaiśeṣika) refers to a school of orthodox Hindu philosophy (astika), drawing its subject-matter from the Upanishads. Vaisheshika deals with subjects such as logic, epistemology, philosophy and expounds concepts similar to Buddhism in nature
