1) [noun] a high wall, insurmountable or difficult to surmount from outside, built round a palace, town, etc., equipped with earthworks, for defence against attack; a rampart.

2) [noun] ಕೋಟೆ ಹೋದಮೇಲೆ ಪಹರೆ ಕಾದರು [kote hodamele pahare kadaru] kōṭe hōdamēle pahare kādaru (prov.) to prescribe preventive medicine after the patient is dead; to try to stop the leak after the entire wine is run out; shut the stable door when the steed is stolen.
