kōraḍā (कोरडा).—a Dry. 2 Dry--as bread, rice &c. without ghee, curds, or other moistening accompaniment. 3 Mere, bare, simple--wages without board; as malā kōraḍē tīna rūpayē miḷatāta. 4 This word is much used in a figurative sense of Dry, i. e. formal, pharisaical, vapid; lacking heart, sincerity, or spirit: or in the sense of Unsubstantial, unprofitable, fruitless, empty. Thus it is opposed to ōlā, but particularly to ōlā- vyācā, under which word see the distinction drawn out. Ex. kiṃ vēdāntajñānāvāñcūna || kōraḍī vyartha mati- śūnya ||; bārā varṣē paḍhata hōtōṃ parantu kō0. And see in order kōraḍā ādara -māna-pratiṣṭhā-mamatā-bōlaṇēṃ-vyava- hāra-śrama &c. 5 fig.
