khaṭalā (खटला).—m khaṭalēṃ n A dispute, difference, disagreement. 2 Family, followers, lands, houses, cattle; dependents and possessions gen. 3 Retinue, suite, train, baggage; traveling domestics and things. 4 One's wife, i. e. one's domestic establishment. 5 A trade, a business, an employment. Ex. hā sarāphīcā kha0 āja tīna varṣēṃ karitō; myāṃ gatavarṣīṃ bhātācā kha0 kēlā hōtā; tō bārā khaṭalē karūna pōṭa bharitō. 6 An affair, a matter, esp. an involved or a troublesome one; a point, a case, an item. Ex. phiturācē khaṭalyānta tū paḍūṃ nakō; tyā prakaraṇānta puṣkaḷa khaṭalē āhēta. 7 A lawsuit; a case, esp. criminal, before the Judge. kha0 ōḍhaṇēṃ g. of o.
