1) Khanija (खनिज) is a variation of Gold (suvarṇa), which is “obtained” obtained though mines or minerals, according to the Rasaprakāśasudhākara: a 13th century Sanskrit book on Indian alchemy, or, Rasaśāstra. Gold itself is a metal (dhātu/loha) from the sub-group named Śuddhaloha.

2) Khanija (खनिज, “mineral”) is a variation of Silver (rajata), which is “obtained” from digging mines, according to the Rasaprakāśasudhākara: a 13th century Sanskrit book on Indian alchemy, or, Rasaśāstra. Silver itself is a metal (dhātu/loha) from the sub-group named Śuddhaloha.
