khaṇḍaṇēṃ (खंडणें).—v c (khaṇḍana S) To break; to reduce into parts: also to shatter or smash. This verb is indefinite, and but little regards the distinction betwixt tōḍa- ṇēṃ & mōḍaṇēṃ. 2 To confute, refute, redargue. 3 To contract for; to stipulate certain work or service for certain money; or vice versâ. 4 To settle the price or terms of (of a thing to be purchased or hired).

khāṇḍaṇēṃ (खांडणें).—v c (khaṇḍana S) To break; to cut or part by violence; to hew, hack, chop. Pr. aḍavēṃ ālēṃ tēṃ khāṇḍūna kāḍhāvēṃ. 2 To dig. 3 fig. To gnaw, bite, tear--as a swallowed fly &c. 4 R To pare and clip (in order to form dining-leaves, a butter-boat &c.) the virī of the betelnut-tree. 5 To make channels or divisions in the khāṇḍavī. (As on our gingerbread, buns &c.) saḍā khā0 To gnaw or slightly bite the teat;--used of a calf, kid &c.
